Lincoln Youth Football League

2024 Lincoln Youth Football 7 on 7 Registration

Welcome

Welcome to the LYF 2024 7 v 7 Registration!

WHAT IS 7v7?  7-on-7 Football is growing rapidly as parents, players, and coaches recognize the sport for being an inexpensive and safe way to improve position-specific skills and compete among peers. 7v7 is touch based, with minimal contact, that serves incoming 4th - 9th graders, and is designed for all skill levels.  The beginner player will be introduced to the game of football in a fun and safe environment. The intermediate player will get more repetitions at a position or the opportunity to learn a different one. The advanced player will focus on their position-specific skills and increasing their game IQ to benefit them as they work towards a high school team. For a video of what 7v7 looks like, click here.

WHEN: The summer 7v7 season will begin in  May and will end in June .  Games will be played on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-8:30 pm. Each team will play 2 games each Wednesday for 12 total games plus the possibility of making the final  tournament.

WHERE: All games will be played at the Lincoln Youth Football Complex, Located at 225 South Street Lincoln, NE 68522. Practice dates and locations will be determined by team coaches based on field availability in Lincoln.

TEAMS: There will be approximately 10-14 players on each team. Teams are grouped by division based on their grade for the upcoming school year. For example, if your child was in 8th grade during the 2023-24 school year, he/she would be eligible to play in the 9th grade division of 7v7. Likewise, if your child was in 3rd grade during the up coming school year, he/she would be eligible to play in the 4th grade division.

DIVISIONS: Our goal is to have  6 divisions: 4th grade, 5th grade, 6th grade, 7th grade, 8th grade, and 9th grade divisions. These divisions are based on what grade your child will be in during the 2024-25 school year. If we do not have enough participants at one division we may combine 2 divisions as needed to fill teams. Blended division will play in the higher grade division.

COST: Registration fee is $135 as of May 1 and includes taxes, fees, and custom jersey. Registration is open until May 13th at 7 pm.

REQUIREMENTS: In addition to the registration fee. Your player must provide their own mouthguard and cleats for practices and games. T-shirts and shorts are recommended for practices. Custom game jerseys are included with the registration fee. Optional equipment can be worn at the discretion of the player/parent, which includes gloves and soft-shell helmet.

HOW CAN I GET ON A TEAM? Players will be assigned to teams based on their home address. LYF has 8 district sponsors, including Allo, Elks, Green's, Manzitto, Neemann & Sons, Police/Sandhills Global, Stonebrook, and Union Bank. At the 9th grade division, players will be assigned to teams based upon which high school they will be attending in the fall.  Each district will work together to organize 7v7 coaches and teams. So districts may be combined if needed to fill teams and divisions.
